PokerStars launches new TV show

The world of poker on television just got a new competitor with PokerStars the Big Game on the FOX network. The new show is a high-stakes cash game $200/ 400 No-Limit Hold’em with a buy-in of 100,000 dollar. According to PokerStars, some of the best poker and online poker players in the world are invited, including Daniel Negreanu. With a new promotion they will choose a number of players from the PokerStars site qualifiers to play in the Big Game. The poker online site will hold qualifiers for the event and players in the U.S. and Canada can play for free in the 1st qualifying round of the Big Game from now until June 25. Winners qualify for the Big Game final where the best 200 poker players will be invited to send a casting video to PokerStars. The players selected will be flown in and PokerStars will pay their 100,000 buy-in. They may keep any profits they make over $100,000. Poker Stars is no stranger to TV shows, last year they introduced the PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge and also sponsored the “Did You Know” segment in the current season of High Stakes Poker. High stakes cash games have become a popular format for poker TV shows, Poker After Dark, usually a six-player Sit and Go, has recently added a cash game delivery to its existing schedule. Poker Stars has yet to announce when the show will be broadcast, but the Big Game qualifiers are already available in the lobby of the online poker sites.
